In Italy and France it is customary to eat breakfast very easily coffee + bread or biscuits. I personally saw in the French part of Switzerland and lived in France. It always seemed popular for tea, if you do not drink coffee. But the hot chocolate is not unusual. And it is always made with steamed milk, never water!
